I know that the Petit and Interlux brands offer great easy-to-use topside paints but does anyone make an easy one with metalflake in it? I just got this great 18' race-boat made by Action Marine, Hollywood, Fl. and would like to spruce her up a bit. I bet the answer is no and I will go with Briteside. Also, anyone know where I can get Graghics Striping material to duplicate the originals? Thanks.

Shoot it in Imron. You can do anything on a boat with it you could do on a car and it will hold up better than any of the 1-part marine paints. The best part is that you can buy it, in any of a thousand or so colors, in pretty much any city in the country.

Thom

True Metalflake paint jobs are a 4 step process. The first coat is a base color of silver, gold, or a flat solid color. The next is a mix of the flake in clear (some will use a flocking gun to blow it onto a wet base of clear). After that is the candy color (red, blue...)to establish a color. Finally the clear is applied. You must apply enough clear to completely cover the flake that is standing on its edge. If not when you water sand it back down for a level finish, the metalflake standing on edge (where you sanded through) will turn dark ruining your candy color.

With that said...shoot it with a metalic color unless you are a very good painter, or have a deep pocket full of cash.
