i think i messed up.

i rebuild a v6 60* looper OIS las summer and put it on my boat.
after a 2 hrs of operating it started backfiring.
after a lot of trouble shooting found out the crankcase was leaking.

after reasealing the crankcase it run great for only another 2 hrs and same thing happend again.

i used anearobic permatex gasket maker 51813.
torqeut the main bearing bolts to 18 ft lbs.

did i screw up the torqeu spec.

im gonna tear itr down again and let you guys know and see what i find.

thanks reeldutch

Edit: The Seloc service manual says 25-30 [pg A-8] for the main bearing bolt

Re: torque spec 92 v6

i have a feeling the crankcase half might be warped.
i know i should have checked it before installing it.
if that would be the case is it possible to get it square again.
or will i have to look for a whole new block?

I have a feeling that a little more sealer and a little more torque might keep that running a long time. I don't know why it runs that long before it leaks if it isn't pretty close.
