i have a 98 90hp evinrude. high temp alarm kept going off every time i hit 3700 rpms. everywhere kept saying it was the impeller, (replaced that) then it was the deflectors (replaced those)..still the horn goes off. replaced tstats. still the same....went against the advice of the dealer and took off the water jacket cover...lo and behold, two pieces of lime and scale were partially blocking the intake. muratic acid and patience cleared this blockage... Now..sorry,,,Here is my question...what is the torque sequence for putting the bolts back in...and the torque specs for a water jacket cover..and yes ive cleaned off the old gasket and lightly sanded the cover. thank you if you can help...

Re: torque specs and sequence

Torque values usually are not provided in the shop manual for those fasteners ... tighten from the center out as you would for a head and use a new gasket. There may be a value somewhere in the manual for fasteners by size. If in doubt, do not overdo it, since they are threaded in the aluminum block.
