Re: total wieght

yes,

the trailer is about 800 pounds of that easy.

just the tires are 80 pounds, the axle is 125 pounds

so the tri hull is 1200 pounds.
motor 275 to 300
battery 50
gas is 6 pounds a gallon

get the idea

I don't think that you have any more water log than any other boat out there that age.

Don't try and go by the numbers of new boats today. Your boat was made when Fiberglass was Fiberglass not a mix or lamination.

The 72 trihull my father owned was a hell of a heavy boat and road great.
Towing it to Arkansas every summer loaded was a test on that AMC v-8.

Re: total wieght

Here's my take:
Trailer - 600#
Motor - 350#
Battery - 50#
Gas - 36#
Boat - 1450#
Total = 2486
Difference is 214# (some of that could be water, but could be other miscellaneous stuff in the boat). I'd say 2700 is close enough. Even 100# of water is a lot of water so I don't think that's an issue.

Don't forget that he listed two batteries and trailers are heavier than people think. The weight of steel is 495 pounds per cubic foot.

So look at you axle would it squeeze in a cubic foot when crushed, provided it is not hollow.
