I have a 1989 Johnson Tracker 40 HP Electric Start Only Model that has the touch and trim that does not budge. (Side question - who made this motor as Mercury also has a Tracker line?) Bought boat with motor not knowing anything was bad. (not to huge a deal it is stuck down except I scrape the skeg when putting in driveway)
I went to my local dealer and asked them and they said the nitrogen in the cylinder goes out often and on this site searching lots of posts talked of a plastic clip breaking easily. Whatever it is I just would like a to know what I need to do to raise the motor or how to find out what is wrong.
All I see it a plastic nut approx 1 1/8th inch with a line through it on the bottom end of the cylinder piece. Let me know if pics are needed.
I want to know how to raise it to see what it bad to repair/replace.
Thanks!
