Re: Tough Weekend

Why would somebody be out at that hour at that speed? I feel very sorry for the womans family.

Although the new story doesn't say so, I suspect that the ladies were probably returning from the Weirs Beach area in Laconia, which is Party Central for thousands of people during Bike Week. This week brings in bikers from all over the country along with the drinking, drugs and antics that make the destination attractive to the wild crowd.

I've read another account of the story which notes that "alcohol may have been a factor".

Still, in that small a waterway, that speed at night is dangerous...

Re: Tough Weekend

The accident looks totally avoidable to me. Almost a case for the Darwin Award. Am I a hardass? Not really. No one would feel sorry for me if I played Russian roulette with four chambers loaded. She was traveling at high speed at night. One loaded chamber. Some may say she wasn't, but that amount of damage does not happen at ten miles an hour. She was traveling with limited visability due to weather according to the video. Two loaded chambers. It was suggested that she was impared, due to the mention of other things I think this would be likely. A BAC would tell us for sure. Three loaded chambers. The attitude of those who oppose speed limits equals four loaded chambers.

I'm sure that I have offended many here. I am not a heartless guy. I do think that a strong, non PC analysis might help some others. Failure to cut off the gangreene when it is only a finger instead of waiting until it is past the shoulder is not saving someone from pain, but condeming them to death. I also enjoy boat races. When and where you cut the throttle open is important to others on the lake.

The sad part is the passenger paid the price. The captian is still responsible.

At least she did not run down others on the lake. I know of several times locally that that has happened in the last two years.
