tow bar or dolly to tow jeep home?

Hey guys i might be going to look at an old jeep cj3b sunday, its in Georgia about 5hours away, the jeep has a tow bar ive never used a tow bar, owner states it tows nicely but hes never towed it long distances. My dad has a car dolly with 3 dry rotted tires at least its got a spare. Im not sure if i should just take the dolly, ive heard tow bars are sketchy.thanks again, he said someone is supposed to make an offer this week so it probably wont even be there sunday. But im sure the situation will come up again.1964 CJ3B

put both the transmission and transfer in neutral and it should tow fine as long as there no mechanical problems in the drive line to start with.

I tow all over the country w a towbar but for an unknown do yourself a favor... rent a trailer from uhaul near your home and tow it down empty... minimal cost and it eliminated all of the problems of flat towing IE unknown condition of axles, drive shafts, dragging brakes, dry rotted tires, poor alignment, etc.

+1 on renting the trailer. Pulling on a bar or dolly is still relying on the Jeep's mechanics, which may be iffy.

Just wanted to let you guys know the guy sold the jeep, kinda disappointed, but ohh well thanks for the imput anyway. Ill keep it in mind
