Tow ring weight capacity

We have a 2006 Four Winns 180 Horizon with a Merc 3.0L. We do a lot of watersports and I'm wondering if the rear ski eye/ring has a real life weight capacity. Two tubes with total weight of about 400 LB never seem to affect it, but would 3 riders with approx. 600 LB do anything?

Has anyone ever heard of a ring popping off under stress?

This is just an observation here, so take it for what its worth, but its bolted through the same portion of the boat that the hold down eyes are on the back of the boat, same material etc, and you trust those eyes to hold the boat on the trailer in the event of an accident. As long as your transom is solid I wouldn't see a problem towing three tubes with it.

Should be well reinforced but check it out. I installed a new tow ring on mine and put a steel plate backing on the inside to make sure it couldn't pull thru (3"x3" or so). I did have one bend pretty badly on my PWC from towing a big tube with fatsos on it, so I put a heavier duty one on and only tow the fatsos with the boat now.

dodgeramsst2003 , most tow rings, at mounted in the center of inboard out board, on the cap part of the boat, rather than the transom. they are suppose to have a beefed up backing plate behind them.

TD, guess I didn't think about them being mounted on the cap. I've only owned one boat that had one, it was my first sea ray, and it was mounted on the transom. Nice catch though, wouldn't want anyone pull one out because of my bad advice.
