just changed my 115 for another 115..i had water intrusion in my old one..so i looked around and found another..compression...was 135, 133,130,135,132,130! in this new one! I had no problems with the boat or fuel system or motor for 6.5 years...routine stuff do to saltwater..here's the prob...when i got the boat back...i went to a lake, started fine...ran slow ...fine...opened it up...went a ways blaaaahhh...ball was flat!!...brought it back to mech....back out again...up on plane dead...ball flat...changed fuel pump...(took old one of my motor)..same result..mechanic..put 3 cans of power tune thru it..now it will run 1500 rpm...for days on end...1800 rpm...she begins to stumble...2000...she's dieng...and the ball is flat...we have checked lines for kinks..by passed water seperator.changed the ball..put air thru the lines to check venting of tank.(cap and vent).tommorrow, i am going to take a 6 gallon tank...a diff. hose and try it!!!if it does it to this ball...what next!!!???i ran the old motor 3 times...before i found aproblem with the motor...there were no fuel probs...what so ever.

By 'ball' I assume you mean the fuel primer bulb. If that's being sucked flat it means you have a restriction between it and the tank, or a restriction in the air coming into the tank. It also means that the fuel pump is working properly.

Are you using a remote tank or a built-in?

Just because it hasn't given trouble in the past doesn't mean it can't be causing the problem now....

Remote tank would be my next step, and my money's on you having a problem in the built-in tank.:D

Normally built in tanks have an antisiphon valve in the filler tube. These clog up.

Did the 6 gal. tank resolve your issue? I have the same type problem with a built in tank as well. When you primed the fuel (pumped the ball) before starting, did the ball ever seem to get full? Mine seems like I can pump it all day and no gas leaks anywhere but it never seems to get full/firm. I had thought of taking a spare 6 gal. tank and line next week but was curious on how yours came out last year.

Thanks!

mine was doing this last year, it turned out to be a bad o-ring on the conection to the tank. replaced it, and it works fine. check all the o-rings on the disconect fittings and i bet you find your problem.
