Tower of Power in the Salt??

My mid-80's 115hp tower of power has been used in freshwater only. Is it out of the question to run such a motor in the salt? Obviously, it would need to immediately be flushed after each use, but what else should be considered?

We took our freshwater '73 Johnson to the shore last year for the first time. Contrary to popular belief, it did not immediately corrode and fall off into the sea :) I just took it for a good run in the lake when I got home.

I dont think you will have a prob once you wash out well I have been doing it for years, some people change the frost plugs for bronze or stainless steel, but thats up to you.

There are no freeze plugs in an outboard.

That motor has a stainless driveshaft, so that will not be an issue. if you flush it after every use, you will never have an issue with corrosion. if you don't flush it, you will have an issue in 10 years or so, when the block alloy starts to break down and the baffle and inner water jacket cover start to corrode away.
