So here 's the deal. I bought this boat 4 month ago.. It has a 115 mercury. I think around a 1980 model. I ran some good gas to it and it started up. The water flow was minimal so i didn't run it long. I checked compression and it was all at around 120. I started it up again 3 weeks ago for a short period of time and an overheat alarm went off. So i shut it down. Last week i rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump which were actually in excellent shape. yesterday i replaced the impeller and housing and reinstalled today. I tried to restart with no sucess. Fuel pump is pumping and minor amoiunts of starting fluid and no joy. Further investigation shows spark at number 3 and 5 and the rest dead.......The wiring coming off the stator looks sad but not totaled . I have a good digital ohm meter and know how to use it. Is the black box forward a cdi? Does the overheat stuff have any bearing on this. Help
The boat is sinking.....
