Hey guys, I'm interested in getting some speakers on my wakeboard tower and was wondering if any of you have suggestions on what speakers to look into. Also, if you have a setup please share what you have and how you like it.

Thanks a ton

Re: Tower Speakers

the top of the line tower speaker are the "pro audio" type speakers. From what understand they're P.A. type speakers and are the only real option for hearing the music loud and clear while riding at 85ft. Wetsounds is one of the popular brands so you can google that. They're expensive and require a lot amp power. If you don't care about hearing the music while you're riding, just around the boat a good choice would be getting some 6.5" speaker cans from ebay and load them with the 6.5's of your choice. Marine speakers would probably hold up best but a lot of people use car stuff. Some of the higher end car 6.5's (polk, kicker) are marine approved. Just do a search on ebay for tower speakers and you can pretty much see what's available. From what I've heard a really great option is the kicker kmt6. http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-KMT6-6-W...ryZ18799QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They are reasonably priced and a lot of people have said they can hear the music well while riding. The wetsounds are just too expensive for me, but it sounds like a concert all the way back. I plan on getting the kmt6's and an appropriate amp.

Re: Tower Speakers

I'm running a pair of bazooka tower speakers -- http://sonicelectronix.com/item_2871_Bazooka+Wakeboard+Tubbies+MT8002B+-MT8002BS-.html

Driving them is a cheap DHD ($40 ebay used) 4 ch amp. The amp is bridged giving them a rated 150w rms x 2 (probably over-rated, I'd call it 100-125w x 2 realistically) there is enough volume to hear them while wakeboarding.
Far from the best tower speakers out there (at least far from the most expensive), but for cost vs. performance I think they're definitely worth considering. I'm not sure the price of Kicker/Infinity etc. is justified.
