If you are going to be towing it regularly, then either buy a smaller boat or a bigger tow vehicle.

If it is a one time tow, I'd suggest hiring someone to move it.

I have a Nissan Titan, which is the same chassis and engine/tranny combo as the Armada/QX that I tow with a lot. I have no doubt that you could tow it, but the bigger questions would be... Can you stop it in a reasonable distance without drama? ...and... Can you tow it safely any distance at more than 20mph or so? I think the answer to the last 2 questions would be no.

This is what you should do, don't do it. I am sure your insurance would be an issue if you were to get in a wreck and be towing OVER the suggested limit.

Look at smaller boats or bigger trucks.

The vehicle will maybe do it, however:
1. There may be a law in your state re: overloading.
2. As stated above, insurance company problems
3. If theres a warranty left on that vehicle, and they find out, you have no warranty any more.

With whatever you buy for a boat, hopefully within the tow rating, make sure the trailer has brakes on both axles if 2 axle, and 2 of the 3 on a 3 axle, and Preferrably, disk brakes. Don't know about where you live and boat, buy Florida required this (state statute).
Nextly, radial tires smooth out the ride. Mine has them, and I have about 3K miles on them. They show no wear, so far.
Aluminum trailers weigh about 40% less than steel. Might save 1000# of tow weight here.

Ya gotta upgrade to something that can tow 10K pounds or shed 1000 pounds on what your going to tow. You can chance it now and again, but if you're going to trailer a 10k pound boat every other weekend you need a vehicle rated to haul that much weight. You also need to consider your state's width limitations. In Florida you're okay if you do not exceed 102 inched in width. Anything beyond that and you need to be permitted to haul it around and deal with all of the hassles of chase vehicles. Good luck and let us know what you decided.

...Preferrably, disk brakes...

Not very popular with the boating crowd(yet), but with that kind of weight there is no substitute for electric brakes. It's all about control.

Remember all the added goodies that you will be hauling as well. Fuel, gear etc. All this has to be taken into account as well in your towing weight.

Re: Towing 10,000 lbs. with Infinity QX56

For the 1st year I towed a 26 ft wellcraft 26 se with a 1997 2door
gmc Yukon 4x4 with E loadrange tires. Manufacturer stated the boat as 5000 lbs empty. After loading everything into the boat +fuel for a day at the lake,I crossed the scales right at 10000 lbs. Although the tow rating for the Yukon was only 6500 lbs it pulled the load ok. Stopping and emergency maneuvers were a totally different thing!
It only took 1 extended trip to find out that the truck was not safe with this load. I purchased a 2007 3/4 ton crewcab longbed duramax diesel. As much as I like the Yukon, it wasnt the right vehicle and it wasnt safe for my family or I. Do yourself and your family a favor and either get a smaller boat or a larger truck.

Thanks Steve

Glad i don't live in Florida!!! Would not want to chance being around you towing that boat!!

Please look at bigger tow vehicles or smaller boats.

Also, does that 9k include the trailer, gas, and anything else in the boat?

Be safe, don't do it!

First.... Welcome to iboats.

I would not endorse anyone exceeding the tow rating of their vehicle.

What should you do? Get a larger tow rig or borrow a friends. I am sure that your trailer has a brake system and I would advise that is serviced and checked out completely.

Be safe.

Oh yeah, I should have also mentioned... When the Titan (same underpinnings and running gear) came out, the rear end could not even handle the truck, nevermind maxing the tow rating +1000 lbs. So even if you do tow, keep in mind you are probably going to grenade that rear end in a hurry.

When the towed vehicle exceeds the weight of the towing vehicle, it is a mess. Brakes on the boat are a must unless you what the boat to past the Infinity on the interstate. 10,000 lbs is a lot of weight.

my f150 is good for 10,000

Sure it is... if you include your truck and butt in that 10K.

Go here http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/f150/features/specs/ , click the towing tab and you will find that some of the new 2009 F150's are rated as high as 11300lb with the HD payload package. And if I recall correctly some of the 2006-2008 models were that high as well.

These ain't your fathers 1/2 tons.;)

Remember that your tow ratings does not include fuel, cargo, and passengers. You must subtract all that from your tow rating.
