Pontoon boats weigh much less per foot of length than fiberglass hulls, I believe. But if my small truck nicely handles a 2000 lb. 16' boat, would it have a problem towing a 24' 'toon of the same weight?

Depends on whether you have a headwind or not. Pontoons have a lot of winddrag.

I had a Ranger pick up truck & towed a 20' pontoon. Alltho it was a light boat the wind drag just about killed the poor truck. it was worse with a headwind. It,s like towing a parachute.

I have a modified Diesel Truck... I get better fuel economy towing my 14000 lb 5th wheel than I do my 2000 lb pontoon. Just because of wind drag.

It seems like every time I'm behind someone towing a toon the thing is all over the road. They must be a b!tch to tow.

I don't have any issues with mine but I pull her with a Suburban and I have a sturdy Tandem trailer.
