The drivers seat heater quit on my wife's 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Limited Edition. No heat,no light indicator on dash.No mention of being on a fuse in the (quite detailed) owners manual.Everything else seems to be OK (electrically).<br /><br />Any ideas? If I could get a wiring diagram somewhere on-line,I could probably track it down.<br /><br />DHP

Are you sure this is OEM and not a after-market install?

I would say "gotta have a fuse somewhere"<br />Could be an inline somewhere.

Re: Toyota Seat Heater

Is there a wire connector for the heater under the seat? Sounds like a power problem if the indicator on the dash doesn't illuminate and the heater is out as well.<br /><br />Your local library should have some shop manuals if nothing else pans out.

Thanks,<br /><br />The connectors under the seat are good and no chaffed wires.I just can't figure where the thing gets power from.Maybe a relay?<br /><br />DHP

Re: Toyota Seat Heater

With Toyotas, there is no better reference than the Factory Service Manual. I have one for each of my Toyotas, as well as several for Toyotas I used to own. They have complete schematics in the back. I would guess that there has to be a fuse for a system that carries other things on the circuit, so if nothing else is out, I would guess it's a relay. Toyota has relays for everything.

I agree about the manual.Does Toyota now put it all in one volume?Last time I bought them was in 1987,for a new Tercel 4wheel Drive SR5 wagon.I think the electrical manual was extra.Total then was about $65.00 or so.Maybe even another volume about emmissions.<br /><br />During boating season I won't even look under the hood of our vehicles, unless they don't start or move.I have people to that. The same people have me looking under the hoods of their boat engines.<br /><br />That's why I don't have the manual. All I need is a wiring diagram,or info from you guys if you've had this problem.<br /><br />DHP

I have checked the Toyota manual and the Alldata manual. No mention of OEM seat heaters. This may have been a optional dealer install. You will just have to trace the circuit from the switch. Look under the hood and under the dash for blown fuses...

Thanks Guys !<br /><br />I don't know how the dash switch could look so original, and not be factory. But I also respect what you are saying. And what you are saying is from areas I can't access,so I have to go along with you.BUT it sure looks stock. GRIN!<br /><br />The 1987 Tercel 4wheel drive was a great car.Being a 5 speed,it had actually 6 forward speeds in low range.Could pull itself out of a bathtub.<br /><br />DHP

Re: Toyota Seat Heater

If you have leather seats, the seat heaters are prolly factory. I have same thing in my 02 Sienna.Maybe dealer will pull it up on computer and print you schematic?
