I've had 3 manual transmission cars and they all shifted hard until warmed up. one was a ford, one a Nissan, and the other a Subaru.

Re: toyota tranny fluid

First have you had that Tacoma inspected yet by toyota for frame rot? You could be driving a big wad of cash around!!!!

You can go with synthetic but considering it is barely broken in yet I would just opt for an oil change. Really the first big service on the 2000 is scheduled at 90K. If you have the 2.7L you will get away with a cheap service since it has a timing chain and no belt.

While you are at it and thinking of changing the tranny oil you should do the front and rear diffs too (unless you are the original owner and know the history).

My 2000 Tacoma was one of my favorites but I traded for a 2000 4runner which had 2 more doors.

bob-
thanks for ur suggestions about the diff oil as well...as far as the frame rot i look to be ok...but i may back it into the water a bit more next season and then see what i can get for it in trade from toyota!! iwas just curious about the synthetic as far as it making shifting easier...although its really not an issue...thank you
