I have a j130 vxsss and noticed a gray residual like oil and water on one of my top plugs. Engine is not down on power but not ideling well when in gear at 700 rpm. I am suspecting a head gasket issue. Will be doing a compression test tomorrow, 2 years ago they were all 125psi after cranking each for equal time. If I do not see a difference in this cylinder versus others should I still suspect gasket? Do these gaskets require a special sealer when new ones are istalled? All the bolts are numbered is this the torque sequence? Thanks in advance for replies

One other point after running on muffs I removed this sparkplug and one below and noticed what appeared to be steam coming from offending cylinder.

Got the compression test results

#1 125 psi with around 60 psi first compression stroke
#3 130 psi with around 60 psi first compression stroke
#2 offending cylinder 130 psi around 30 first compression stroke
#4 130 psi with around 60 first compression stroke

Any thoughts? The only irregularity I see is the offending cylinder at around thirty on first stroke. Still suspecting head gasket???

This problem was a head gasket for anyone searching head gasket issues. Cleaned the deck of corrosion, new gaskets have sealer on them, and remember to retorque the bolts after your first run.

Yes, I got kindly reminded that it would be nice for people to see the outcome of issues. I had never really thought about it, but it adds to forum if people can see what does and does not work.
