I am considering purchasing a 2010 TRACKER Pro Team 170 TX w/40 ELPT FourStroke EFI and Trailer. Total Cost, not including state tax and fees, is $13,320 as follows:

Boat Package: $12,495
Prep: 325
Freight: 500

Total $13,320

Is this a good price?

What is meant by Prep of $325? What is done to prep the boat/trailer?

Would like to have comments, pro and con, concerning the 170 TX?

With a 40HP motor it is under powered. Don't plan on doing any sking behind it. Prep fees are suppose to include cleaning it up, installing any accessories and making sure everything works as advertised.

My Pro Crappie 175 had a 40hp 2-stroke and would run about 27-28 mph. It was enough for getting around the lake and decent for trolling too, but that's about it. The pricing sounds about right with Tracker's no haggle thing.

I just got that exact boat last month. With 2 200lb people in the boat I can average around 33-35mph. I've used it about 15 times so far and haven't found a problem with it yet.

My 40 pushes my 175 Pro right along at 23 mph and tows the kids on the tube without a sweat @ 3/5 throttle.

Did you have any problems with planing? I just bought one and put it in the water two day. I haven't been able to run it at full throttle to break the engine in because it drops the back down under water when I try. Did you experience anything like this? That was with one person so it isn't the weight.

You shouldn't have a problem with one person. Make sure you follow the "break-in" directions if your motor is new. I followed them and had no problem. Alone I can get on plane fairly quick. Two people it takes some time. and with three i need to put someone up front. If you bought your boat new, make sure you break your motor in befor WOT.

Dumb question.... is the motor trimmed in?
