Trailer Adjusting

I hope you guys can give me some advice on adjusting a trailer. The bunks extend @ 5 inches beyond the boat now, so it needs to be corrected for Smart Tab placement. It would be easy to move the bow stop back a few inches, but the boat already rides very light on the front of the trailer. It is parked on an angle in the driveway, and the nose actually lifts off of the bow stop.

Not sure what the tongue weight is, and not sure how to determine that. Hopefully pictures will explain thing better.

Are you saying the bow of the boat is lifting by itself or that there is very little weight on the jack wheel? If it's just tongue light you can just slide the boat back for the trim tabs. You can figure tongue weight to be about 10% of the rig weight. In your case, you might need to move the axle back slightly to get tongue weight.

I second moving the axle back. Had to slide mine back a good 4 inches! Now I have about 90-100lbs tongue weight. (18ft BowRider 120 i/o) Tows much nicer.

The tounge is not light. I guess I need to figure out how to weigh it. The bow itself is lifting. We are scared it will get worse if we just move the bow stop. The trailer is set up so that the bunks are lower in the back than they are in the front.

If you look in the pictures, you can see the front of the bunks are mounted using the top holes of the bracket. The back of the bunks are mounted with the bottom holes.

pretty simple fix... measure how much you need to move the boat back, unload it, slide your front winch mount back that much, and move the axle back roughly the same. (maybe an inch less)
