I have a slight bend off center on my trailer axel. The boat trails really good. Should I take the chance and keep it well lubed or just replace it.

thanks in advance,

~Chris

Re: Trailer axel

Trailers are one of the things I cut my teeth on in the welding bus. and is a still a main item of work for me. Use a HEAVY floor jack and jack rite in the middle of the axel untill it is slightly bent up and holds the bend (about 1") This should give you about the rite camber. You may have to heat the center with a torch if your boat is not heavy enough.... :D

Re: Trailer axel

May I ask, While attempting to use the jack to re position the jack, it is ok to keep the boat on the trailer? It seems that this may be a hit and miss situation. OR wil the measurments from the tops of each tire and the botton of each tire eventually even out even while stationary?
