Trailer brakes seized

I have a dual axle trailer to tow my 18' boat. The trailer is a year 2000 with front tire surge breaks. The trailer has been sitting outside unused for the past 1-1/2 years. The front tires will not turn. I think the brakes are rusted to the wheels. Any suggestions on how to free them up.<br />Thanks

Take off the wheel and then take off the drum to free the brakes. Do you have an emergency breakaway? That can also lock the brakes.

Nothing to do except take apart, clean and lubricate, put back together.

I'd start by seeing if the backing plate has an access hole to adjust the brakes. Back off the star adjuster to free up the wheel, pull the drum and clean up any corrosion.

I had the same trouble with my boat trailer after sitting for two years thanks to a broken leg,My boat is a 2000 and hasn't been out that much but what I did find is that all of the wheel cylinders where corroed and I had one that was hung up so I decided to change them all and good thing I did the other three where real bad to.Thats what we get from letting it sit.
