I have decided on putting a set of guide on's on my trailer as I will be launching in a near by river with a current. I have been looking thru my West Marine cataloge and have seen many different types. Wondering if anyone has some input into which ones work best. I have a 1995 Maxum SC200 cuddy on a King trailer.

Thanks

I used both rollers (at the stern) and bunks on the sides on my trailer, bugup. Worked very well.

Good luck. :)

My little 24 inch side bunks work great, but my boat is a little smaller than yours (18 foot runabout). My only advice is to make sure that whatever kind you purchase are actually tall enough to be above the surface of the water when you're at launch depth. If they're too short, it becomes REAL difficult to see them, plus they make a VERY useful guide to help get your trailer at the EXACT perfect depth for loading every single time.

I also have both side bunks (4 foot) as well as vertical ABS pipe guides at the rear. I load up in river current almost exclusively and need all the help I can get. The bunks worked, but tended to hit the boat on the side (duh!), which with the painted boat would scuff the paint. CUrrent boat, just because of a quirk of the boat and how the trailer sits in the water, also hits in a bad place on the side - so I installed fairly tall ABS pipe guides at the rear, which hit along the gunwale, and don't cause any harm at all. I used plain old ABS pipe and bent bracket similar to what the side bunks are attached with. I believe the commercially made ABS guides are made the same way.

I use Tie Down 48" post guides. They can placed above or below the frame. I made a bracket for the lights so they are outof the water. Got them at Boatfix.com, Cheapest around.
