I have a new light setup with wires and the problem i am having is when i connect my 4 pin flat to 7 round adapter to my truck my trailer lights don't work too good.... they are to dim and when i turn left it works fine but when i apply the breaks the lights go dim and the right light starts to flash.... what can my problem be??? I know for a fact it's not the trailer lights cuz I test it all with my power probe. So it must be the truck ( 02 chevy avalanche) or the 7 round to 4 pin flat adapter???

Sounds like a classic bad ground issue.
Check your ground wires to the truck and trailer.

Almost certainly a bad ground somewhere. Usually between tow vehicle and trailer.

Sounds like you are grounding through the ball hitch. Disconnect the hitch and see how many lights work.

Where do you live i know in Michigan every 2-3 years my 7 way plug gets corroded after 5 it needs replacing even with its fancy plastic cover salt finds a way in. That would be restricting the power flow

+1 on the ground issue. Some of the best advice I have ever recieaved reguarding trailer lights is not to ground things to the frame, run a ground wire to each light back to the harness.

Running each ground back to the connector is a waste of wire and unnecessary. If you have a good ground to the frame at each light, you will never have a problem.

Yep, after fighting light and ground issues for a long time, I finally did just what you did and have had nary a problem since then.
