First I would like to thank all for the help in my last post. now my new issue is this.

when i bought my boat, i got the boat and the trailer as pkg deal. which means I have no title for the trailer. so in michigan they said i have to get it weighed and then i can get plates. so two questions, how much should a basic 17 ft trailer weigh? and second i am a littl enervouse about pulling the boat to get it wieghed with no plates on the trailer. any tips would be nice

Re: trailer question

I am not sure what the laws are there, but I am sure the DMV could tell you. I know in Ohio, I was able to pull the trailer with no tags, as long as I was carrying a weight slip from the DMV and I was headed to the scale. I questioned the DMV about this, and was told that it really was up to the officer if I got stopped.... seems there could be a better way. But had no problems.

I docked the boat at a local lake, and to the trailer to the local grain elevator.

As for guessing the weight of the trailer, I wouldn't have a good idea.
