I recently purchased an older 14ft with 25hp tiller. I noticed right away that it comes off the trailer really hard. I was out last night and noticed that a couple of the keel rollers are stuck/hard to roll.
Any tips or suggestions on repairing or replacing the rollers would be appreciated. Is the best way to unload at local "not busy" lake and work on it in the parking lot?

Yes - get the boat off! You can jack the boat a little to get to rollers but this is dangerous and time consuming. If I go to the trouble of fixing things on the trailer I generally replace bits where possible.

In Australia we have a product call Lanotec http://www.lanotec.com.au/ which is a lonolin based solution. Brilliant stuff to spray everywhere on your trailer (after you have sorted out the rollers with marine grease). This product actually gets into the metal if you leave it in the sun to dry and really protects against corrosion.

Re: Trailer Repair

I have the same boat-trailer set up. I changed to bunks about a week ago. The bunks are much better for loading and unloading. Before I had to wade in water over my knees to line up the boat with the rollers, now I don’t get a foot wet. I did all the modifications myself. :)
