Hello,

A couple trailer questions. I bought a 21' open fishing boat, 150 OB. The trailer has a pull pin so it will tilt. I havent used this type before. Is it worth doing. Is that for particular type ramps and inclines? Advantages, disadvantages?

Also, this trailer, while in great shape is a single axle. prior owner trailered alot and maintained it well. I dont know my boat and trailer weight yet, but was wondering about the single exle setup. Wish it was dual for piece of mind. If its all within specs and limits, is the single fine? I will go on trips from 10mi to possibly 75 miles each way. Should I consider a larger or wider tire than the current F78-14ST's? I'm gong to get it weighed eventually.

Sorry so long, my wife says I'm always "wordy"..ouch!

I've never had a boat trailer that tilted (although have seen many - noone ever seemed to use that feature). Make sure you have the stern in the water before pulling the pin.

My 19' 'Ray was too much for the single axle that came with it. A double eventually presented itself (even trade).
I'm sure I have a few pounds on you.

the tilt mechanism comes in very handy on bad shallow ramps. i once had to dry load an 19 ft 2300 lb boat, because there was so much silt on the ramp. that it would settle around the trailer, and wedge the trailer in the silt, could not pull trailer out. the tilt was essential in this.
