Hello All, as I am new to boating and know very little about trailers I was trying to figure out what this beam is on my trailer. I have my foot on it in the picture and I know you guys can tell me what it for:confused:

Well, my guess is exactly what you called it - a walk way. I see them on trailers often so that someone can walk down the trailer to hook up the winch strap to the boat with out getting their feet wet.

That'd be my guess too. My trailer has 2 of them on either side of the keel rollers. You can see the front of one of them here. The other side is identical:

My boat sits so high on the trailer, though, that these are invariably underwater whenever I launch/retrieve the boat, so they certainly don't keep me dry. But they do offer a good platform to walk on.
