I have my boat on a 2500 series road runner trailer which is 4" too wide for my garage, the trailer is 8' wide (tire-to-tire) and the opening for my garage door is only 92" wide.

Can I safely use a smaller trailer with this boat, like a 2300 series road runner trailer which is 81 1/2" wide?

Sure you can, if it has sufficient weight rating and if hull support is adequate. Trailers are usually sized for the boat, not to a garage ...

Thank you for your prompt reply!

The trailer supports 2300lbs., the dry weight of the boat is 2000lbs., however my worry is that the beam of the boat is 90" and the trailer width (including wheels) is 81 1/2" - therefore, the concern is about stability and safety while transporting the boat.

The current trailer support up to 2500lbs. and is 96" wide - I agree that the trailer should be sized to the boat but am worried about storing this boat outdoors in the weather.

The factory trailer on my 2005 Bayliner 195 classic is 92" wide and rated for 2496 lbs. Just fits in the garage we store it in for the winter.

How tricky is it to slide in the garage door opening? I'm imagining an epic session of manual Austin Powers type maneuvering!

It takes a bit of time. That garage is only for winter storage, so its not like I'm having to do it often. During the boating season it lives in a garage with a 16ft door
