what’s the best repair? Drill out the two rivets, cut the mashed section off, then bolt on a new aluminum ‘U’ piece at 1/2” thick using the rivet holes?

Boat is a 16ft side console with 60 2 stroke

Hopefully pics attach…

You could drill out two rivets and add a washer to each side the re rivet or nut and bolt those back together. That would be a quick fix....my question is....why is it messed up like that ?? How much drag do you have getting your boat up onto the trailer?? I would think seriously about eliminating much of the excess drag.
Been a boat owner for over 60 years, never saw a bow eye worn out like that before....

I bought it used a couple years ago, its a 1992 with an equally old Merc so I don't know how it was treated it's first ~30 years. But she doesnt leak much, will do 33mph, and has good compression, so I can't complain!

Your steel winch hook wore the aluminum eye. After you repair it maybe find an aluminum hook..

your local radiator shop is usually looking for work, and they weld aluminum cheap. my guy had more boats and boat parts than radiators the last time I was there.
