Ok, I got this new trailer and wired it as specified;
Yellow=left turn
green=right turn
brown=tailight/running lights
White =to trailer for ground
Connected to my 1994 Explorer which had the trailer wiring already installed(and it works with my other boat trailer just fine). Your basic 4 prong flat plug.
Heres what I get:
1) When headlights are OFF,all trailer lights are OFF(as it should be)but, turn signals are dim flashes as are both brake lights when applied.
2) When headlights are ON, running and taillights are on correctly but, when turn signal(either one) is applied both taillights AND running lights flash...Apply the brake and all trailer lights go out(does not blow fuse)
Any help would be great.. :rolleyes:

Start checking grounds. It is amazing what strange problems ground can cause.

Secnd the ground checks. Seach some older posts here. Recently had several folks with strange problems that were bad grounds. Check how the lights themselves are grounded (i.e. is it ground through mounting screws). Also, don't depend on the ball/coupler to provide ground from truck to trailer.

BL...

Thank you ndemge! Those funky little metal clip that were supplied were the problem. Had one that cut into the wire causing it to go to ground. I should have known better, use zip ties as usual and, trashcan those little metal clips :D
