I am in need of advice regarding how to seal the transducer bracket in my aluminum boat. It is transom mounted and has three small approximately 1/4" bolt holes and the bracket has three slots for the bolts.
There was a "foam type" plate/seal between the bracket and the transom but it is old and not in the nest of condition.
I have some stainless bolts to re-mount the bracket but need to know if I need some type of seal such as above between the bracket and the transom for any purpose and also need to know what method I should use to seal the bolt holes. The transom area they are in is only about 1/8" thick I would guess and I need to know if I need sealant both around the bolt holes on the outside and on the inside or perhaps just on the inside.
Any details such as materials used or methods of sealing a transducer bracket, including the slotted area where the bolts go through would be appreciated. Likely I am as typical overthinking this but the bracket doesn't set completely flat against the transom and without a seal plate between the bracket and transom I am uncertain what method of sealing would be best.
