Re: transducer comparability
I think that the problem you're going to have is that all of the transducers that fit in the general catagory you are refering to are the same. I mean, there are different plugs and different mounting configurations, but other than that the element is the same. As far as I know all of Airmar's transducers below 600 Watts are using the same 1.7" element. To start moving into the speciality transducers you generally need to have 600 watts just to drive what are sometimes called the 1 kW transducers. Its in those transducers that the real gains lie in target discrimination and depth penetration.

As for what you've got now I wouldn't get rid of it in order to get a 667, probably not for a 600L either. I've owned both and I've used your model SiTex and so I've got to tell you, there isn't going to be all that much difference. Of course moving to the LCD of the 600L is a change.

If you did want to follow your curent plan you need to give Gem Electronics a call. They are Airmar's retail outlet. Airmar themselves won't sell you a transducer but talking to Gem is really the same thing as talking to Airmar. What you will be picking up will probably be their B66 or whatever that new one is, R199 or something like that. Its good for up to 600 watts, is dual frequency, temp and speed of course. You could get it with a blank cable, run it into their junction box, and then get an outlet pigtail for your current depth finder or any of the other two that you mentioned, or any of a bunch of others too for that matter. With what you propose right now you need to know that the 667 uses an 8-pin plug whereas the 600L uses a 10-pin plug. Gem sells an inexpensive converter though.

Thom
