Hello,

My Hummy wide eye is now shut eye and dead. Can I replace the head unit with a 400 tx without changing the transducer( would use the wide eye transducer). Both the wide eye and the 400 tx uses a 200/ 455 freq. I am assuming it should work but not to the fullest capabilities of the 400tx unit. Any suggestions or educated guesses?I have listed the descriptions for each of the transducers below.

Thanks
Chuck

Angled puck tri-beam Transducer for hulls with more than a 15 degree deadrise, 200 KHz/455 kHz. Used on the WIDE OPTIC, WIDE PORTRAIT, WIDE PANORAMA, WIDE Paramount, 300TX, and 400TX.

Humminbird XAP 6 TB 90 Transducer

Angled-puck Transducer. Dual element with 200 and 455 kHz. Inside hull mount with 20 ft of cable and a two part epoxy kit. Used with WIDE EYE, WIDE VIEW, WIDE VISION.

Humminbird DAP-W Transducer

Re: Transducer Configuration

Hey Jim,

I have found this answer in the manual for the 300TX. I guess the 400tx wont work but a 300tx will with the wide eye transducer.

Manual Information

The 300TX can work with an older dual beam transducer (model DHS-W only); however
the fishfinder will not show left/right fish location. If this transducer is being used, leave
the menu set to “tri-beam”.
When using a dual beam and tri-beam transducer together with a switch, leave the menu set to “tri-beam”.

I have bought on Ebay a Humminbird Wide Portrait and a Humminbird 300 TX. Which is the better of the 2 units?

Chuck
