Took the boat out (1990 Procraft Fish and Ski) noticed a huge roostertail way higher than the top of the motor. It was coming from the side of the boat where the transducer is located. But the prop roostertail was not higher than the engine. Do I need to remount or learn how to trim the boat better? The transducer is located just below the bottom of the boat.

The transducer is too low. Mine did the same thing, it took a couple tries of moving it up & down to get it right. Then I found the installation instructions which had a good diagram for how to line it up with the bottom.

Assuming it is mounted correctly,if it's a Humminbird, the gap between the mounting bracket and the puck is what throws up the water. Fill the gap or wrap some plastic electrical tape around it. Hummingbird also re-engineered a plug for this problem.

Wow! Great advice. I followed the instructions to the letter. Or so I thought.
