It's probably not in solid water when on plane with that step in the hull. That location would be ok for trolling and sitting still.

that is exactly the case works great in trolling but I am wanting it to work while on plane so I was thinking of moving it in this area do you think that would fix it ? or do you have any other ideas ?

Too close to the center line of the boat. You need to move it outboard of it's current location. Hard to say, can't really see the back of the boat in that picture to see what it all looks like.

here is a picture of the rest of the back of the boat as you can see the outer sides angles back toward the front I wasnt sure if that would throw it off if I mounted it any farther out than it is

You don't have much choice, If i were him i would mount it as far right as i could. Mounting on an angle in the last pic i think would throw alot of spray. It needs to be a little bit higher then it is now. I would tape something flat on the hull mount it on top of that, drill your holes at the bottom of the slots, that way you can move it down a little at a time as needed.

I would move it out to the outside of the trailer bunk (assuming the hull isn't undercut at that point) and make an angle block so the transducer aims parallel to the keel, or you would get an ugly wake and splashes from the transducer hitting the water side ways.

Lower is better until you get too close to the center line of a single engine boat. Then the transducer tends to create air entering the prop stream and causes cavitation burn and ventilation in sever cases. That is why the transducer manufacturers always show how close to the centerline you can get in the instructions.

Another suggestion would be to mount it inboard in the bilge area using exopy. I have a humminbird transducer (it is mounted on the outside of transom because I utilize the water temp reading) however my manual indicates that inboard mounting is an alternative mounting area, wouldn't disturb your wake, but you would lose water temp monitoring though (if equipped).
