Just wondering if it makes any difference what side of the boat that I mount my fish finder transducer on, Starboard or Port side? A few guys on my fishing site tell me that it is suppose to be mounted on the Starboard side. When I ask why? They cannot answer me. Thanks for your opinions on this.

my understanding is if the prop runs clockwise it goes on starboard side because of the way the water comes off the prop, whatever that is called.

The general rule of thumb is to mount the transducer to the starboard side, which is the down stroke of most single outboard boat propellers (right hand lower unit). This side produces the least amount of turbulence and is most efficient in delivering the best performance.
