Re: transducer questions

I "mounted" my transducer 'shoot thru the hull', in the bilge area, just in front of my motor on my q6. You can test the placement prior to actual installation. No loss of signal, etc. and easy to do. Do a search, and there are seveal threads/posts dedicate to how to do this. Basically, after you have the right placement, you're talking about a 30 minute job. Depending on how deep you are planning to fish, shoot through the hull works for me with depths up to 120' (haven't been in water deeper than that).

Now if you're looking to mount the transducer "through hull", ignore the above.

As for one transducer and two units, yes you can, depending on the unit. humminbird and lowrance, for instance, sells a switch. I sure other manufs do the same.

Re: transducer questions

thanks. i was hoping that i could use just one transducer but wasn't sure. i have also thought about get a new trolling motor with the universal sonar and plug the front finder into it but that adds to the cost. thanks again for your answer. like i said, my first boat was a pontoon so a vary basic setup.

Re: transducer questions

Well since you brought it up, I have a gps/sounder at my console, that I can watch when underway, and when we fish at night. This is the transducer in the bilge.

I have a second fishfinder at my bow, using a transducer on my motor guide, affixed with a transducer bracket.
