I have read that you need to have your transducer pointed straight down in the water. What about when you are trailering? What are the chances of damage when you run boat up on trailer?

Re: transducer

It should be hanging out in open air, so no problem,

Re: transducer

When boat is on the trailer, the transom should sit over the rear of the bunks or rollers. The transducer will be behind the trailer.

Bottom of transducer should be parallel with water surface.

Re: transducer

Pointed down while fishing? Yeesh, don't believe everything that you read on the internet kid.

Roscoe has the facts in his drawing above. The best advice is to either crack open your owners manual, or track down an online version of it if you bought the unit used (without the manual).

Re: transducer

follow the instructions.. the only thing your going to hit with it is water when you launch the boat....be more concerned about installing it properly, when running transducer, if you need to drill through the transom, as most do.. dont cut the wire... drill hole big enough to get the connector through...
