transfering waypoints from humminbird units

I am trying to transfer my saved waypoints from my 898 si using an sd card I have exported the waypoints to an sd card and inserted the sd card into my new 597 di and nothing happens it is supposed to auto load but nothing happens I'm sure I'm missing a step or something
