Transmission fluid question

My owners manual for the Paragon tranny calls for Type A transmission fluid which I can't find at the local auto parts stores. Has this type disappeared from the market? If so, what should I use as a replacement? The fluid that is in the tranny is red, which I think is Type F...but I have no idea when it was last changed. Thanks!

Re: Transmission fluid question

Yep it went away. Use Dextron III now. Very common question.
