Does my 04' 3.0L w/ Alpha drive have any type of transmission fluid to change or is the "transmission" the outdrive and the only fluid to change there would be the gear oil? Thanks for the response and don't flame too hard please, it's my first I/O.

Your transmission IS the drive.

Doing this without a manual for the proper filling procedure is DANGEROUS territory.

Re: Transmission? Hopefully not a real stupid question

I'm not that green. I know where to check it in the engine bay. I've just seen references in this forum to "transmissions". I guess that other setups may have them. I've torn down my old Merc 800 quite a bit and have had much luck with putting back together from info from here and manuals. I was just very unclear about the I/O setup. Thanks for the replies and getting me straight.

By the way, I wouldn't think about touching the machine w/o the manuals. I have them on the way as we speak. I've been tearing down bike engines for years and still use the factory books. Thanks again.
