I am in the middle of a rebuild and will need to replace 4 of these http://www.iboats.com/Seasense-Drain-Tube/dm/*******.072658681--session_id.118480931--view_id.485111 anyone have an alternative material? Will 1" copper pipe from the hardware store work? I have made a tool to crimp and shape it once in the hole. I just want to make sure I use the right materials.

I plan to take the old one to the hardware store and compare to copper pipe. I'm just tire of waiting for parts to come in through UPS. I would rather buy it local and have it when I need it.

As long as you can find a plug to fit, and you can crimp it to seal well and you use 3M 5200 to seal it in the hole I see no issues.
