Transom clamps

I have a 72 TOP 135 inline six. I'm trying to remove the transom clams from the motor and replace them. I've removed the large nut at the top and the small one at the bottom. I see no other hardware but the clamps won't budge. Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks

Re: Transom clamps

I am not sure what you mean. Are you trying to remove the thumbscrews that tighten against the transom? The two transom clamp brackets or what?

No, the thumb screws are no good so I have a set of replacement clamps with good screws. Looking at the replacement clamps after I removed the top nut on the motor pivot and the small nuts on the bottom of the clamp they should pull off. Mine are stuck. I don't think they are pressed on. Any help would be great. I don't want to damage the motor.
Thanks

Re: Transom clamps

OK, it sounds like the upper shock mounts are holding the transom brackets together. The upper shock mounts are not pressed, but likely corroded into the transom brackets. I guess you can spray them with penetrating oil and tap on them to get 'em loose.

If you can remove the old thumbscrews(heat, penetrating oil and a pipewrench), you can install the good ones into the current transom bracket.

Thanks. I can't remove the thumb screws. Even with heat the screws were twisting like a pretzel. I'll try more penetrating oil.
