Re: Transom clamps

I know someone has a drawing for them here on the forum but I can't remember where I found it.

Look at mine and you'll get a clue. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=525821&page=2
The upper thread increases the pressure at the lower section of the transom and the lower thread increases the tension on the upper part of the transom. The trick is to not over pressure it so you squeeze out all the yummy PB.

Re: Transom clamps

Check Woodonglass thread. He is the guy that posted the pics and probably came up with the ideal.

Welcome to i-boats.

Post some pics so the guys here can see what you are working with.

Re: Transom clamps

All the Pics of the clamps on the forum have been taken down after the virus attack so... the pics zymox supplied will give you an idea and this drawing will help you build em.
Basically you just drill a 3/4" hole thru the width of the 2x4. Drill a 1/8" hole in the 10" long 1/2" bolt to insert a cotter pin. Drill a counter sunk hole large enuf to epoxy the nut for the 1/2" bolt (use 5min expoxy). Space the bolts bout 18" apart and make the clamps about 4 ft long and you're good to go. 5-6 clamps should do the trick. $20 bucks and 2 hours should build about 6 clamps.

Re: Transom clamps

where ever you have a thru hole, like a towing hook or a key hole.....use this to put bolts thru.

coat the bolts with pva for easy removal after
