just a quick question, i lifted my engine up to set the cav plate approx 2 inch's above the bottom of the hull.

now that the motor is lifted i have a gap between the transom plate and the motor "hanger" is this ok, or do i need to get a "wedge" so to speak.

The motor is bolted to the transom. The gap is a non-issue.

My boat also has a gap like that. I thought the motor would sit right on top of the transom, but its been like this for 30 some years now so I'd hope its OK :)

its fine no problemo.

did you gain any rpm and is the prop still holding in tight fast turns?

how high is the antiventilation plate compared to the bottum (keel) of the hull?

I wouldn't be happy with a gap like that. I'd fill it in with some good wood material. and put a piece of rubber between the motor and the wood

It's just fine the way it is. Lots of motors running around like that.

Not only are you dragging up an ancient thread, you're giving advice about something which you obviously have no knowledge. Those four 1/2 inch bolts which hold the engine to the transom each have a shear strength of many times the engine weight, there's more than ample safety factor for the bolts to be holding the engine weight.
