Hope someone can help. After replacing the transom on my 16’ center console, on the top center where the outboard motor will sit, the outside fiberglass and the ply did not stick together in an area of 10" wide by about 8" deep. My procedure was:I removed the inside layer of fiberglass and then cleaned out all the old rooted wood, then grind, chiseled and sanded. I then cleaned with acetone and using what I thought was plenty of resin I brushed resin on before the mat and then applyed more rosin and rolled out the bubbles.I put a layer of mat, 3/4 ply, another mat and anouther ¾ ply. I bolted with angle iron in 4 places do to the warping of the outside of the transom, I then clamped the top using 8 “C”clamps. I let it all set for 24 hours and removed the clamps.I have NOT fiber glassed the inside or the top of the transom yet.<br />Does any one have any ideas? Is this is going to reduce the strength of the transom?

Re: transom help

As long as the overall layup worked , it should be fine. The motor will be clamping it all together anyway, I doubt you'll have any problems. You could always whip up some epoxy, pour it down the gap, clamp it, then install the motor and it will be fine. Good luck....
