Well after some checking I found my 210 Chris craft transom is bad around keyhole . Have watched many videos and read so much about doing it . Just wondering if could get some advice on materials to get and anything I should do or watch for . Do I need to replace whole thing or just area that is bad ?? I haven’t done much fiberglass work but done a lot of body work and mechanic for 35 years . I’m more then eager to tackle it . Thanks for any info..

Look online for places that carry such things as ---West System Epoxy.-----West system repair manuals are free as well.-----Composite materials.----Carbon fiber. ----Coosa board.-----I am doing a 17' boat myself.-----All wood and foam are going on the garbage pile.----Composite materials are going back in.-----Not cheap but worth doing.

Start in the how-to sticky at the top of the forum... everything you need to know is in there.

How old is your boat? If older than 2000, odds are there's much more rotten than your transom... you need to take core samples at the bottom of your stringers in the bilge... if they look bad then your in for a bottom up restoration... if you're extremely lucky, you only have rot in your transom.

It’s a 84 . I bought it after floor and stringers were done and I think they stopped project and let sit after .Only thing I notice is some delamination on motor mount stringers but I cored them and all solid wood . Project un finished and I’m looking forward to get going on it

I'm pretty sure that you should plan on doing the entire transom and more than likely, the motormounts and stringers as well. Boats of this vintage usually need a full GUT and Restoration UNLESS they've been stored inside and well maintained.

start with the DIY stickies in the restoration forum. read links 14, 15, 18, 2, 3, 4a, and 4b in their entirety, watch every video, look at every picture....... everything one could want to know about restoration of a fibreglass boat is in there.

Well got motor removed for transom replacement. Motor mount stringers are delaminated but solid . Had been done before . Found some rot near cuddy door area . The previous work was good but they let sit for long time after and around cuddy door wasn’t sealed well . Question do panels to cuddy or rear seat to engine bay need to be fiberglass’s in . They were all tabbed in just like rear seat to engine compartment. Making removing to access things so difficult. Where is best place to buy fiberglass and epoxy resin . ? Thanks .

From my project I have found that if you have any question on it's integrity just redo it right and you know it's good. Taking shortcuts isn't worth it in the long run. If you are this deep into it do it right.
