Transom is too thick now what?

Apparently I was a couple of bubbles off the day I built up my new transom. I think I forgot to take into account the 1/4 inch thick glass skin so now my finish measurement is 2 1/2 inches. The manual says 2 1/4 max so now I have to router out 1/4 " the size of the inner transom plate. I'm I thinking correctly for the fix ?
The outdrive is a Alpha 1 gen 1.

i doubt very much that 1/4" will cause any trouble, but yeah, just shave the glass off and seal the wood with resin and your all set.

Ayuh,... The thicker you are from 2", the Less spline engagement you have, when assembled, between the coupler,+ driveshaft...
That the inner,+ outer surfaces are True, parallel,+ Flat is most important...

Bond-o, I mic'd the thickness in a 8" circumference of the outdrive cut out and it is true all the way around. Are you saying that the 1/4" less of spline engagement wont hurt anything?

Ayuh,... That's the Bet you've gotta decide on...

There's only 2" of engagement available...
I know for a fact, 1" will not support a 4.3l... Been there, done that...
An 1, 3/4" might support your motor,..
I donno...

i'm not sure i'm on the same page as you. but when i made my transom it just fit in the tray and i was wooried that after sealing it it wouldn't fit. i used a router to shave the wood down before sealing.
maybe you can trace out the shape and route it down and put another coat on it.
i would try to get as close to original specs
