Transom (lower shift) cable routing OMC Cobra 4.3L PICTURE?

I realize this is an old topic but after looking at the Hastings site for hours and the Seloc manual I cannot figure how to get the lower shift cable back in. The pivot housing is off but I cannot get the cable through the transom. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how this is routed?
Any link to a prior discussion? Have searched.

Also being a real nob what is the stiff tube that runs into the bilge area from the engine?

Thank you

The stiff tube is what the shift cable goes into. Use dishwashing soap to lube it up before you try sliding the cable through.

Thanks that is what I thought. Thank you.
Will try to figure out how to route it since when the engine was put back in this tube is going into the bilge. Very hard to get it to bend up to the top of the engine.
