I need some advise with the transom.
A you can see on this picture, it has been reinforced (by the previous owner, I guess):
They attached the transom to the bow side of the splash well, using two 5/8" threaded rods. The splash well was reinforced using a 4"x4" pressure treated lumber.
Why would they have done that? The transom seems solid enough, and built quite strong with a lot of bracing:
Maybe they were using an outboard exceeding the rated HP? All I know is that the previous engine was bolted to the transom:
I will be using a 45 HP outboard engine. I don't know what the max rating for this boat is, but it is certainly higher than 45HP...
So I am asking you: should I remove those threaded rods and PTW 4"x4"? Or leave them there?
